Focusing on her wider artistic involvement with actions, installations and interventions in public space, Zorica Zafirovska uses stencils with themes that emphasize and highlight the socio-political critical dimension of her art, act as communication codes to the public by looking for an interactive touch and dialogue.


Zorica Zafirovska was born (1982) in Skopje, North Macedonia. She holds a bachelor degree from The Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius of Skopje. Since 2011, she is a Ph.D. Candidate in cultural studies at the Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities “Euro-Balkan”. Her work, as a visual and conceptual artist, involves a wide spectrum of research concerned with contemporary socio-political topics, such as human trafficking and homelessness. In her home town Skopje and elsewhere, Zorica does mostly site- and time-specific installations and small actions that rely on critical and subversive approaches of executing and presenting her work. In 2011, she founded Momi Initiation of 7 women artists from Skopje. In 2009, she was the co-founder of Art I. N.S.T.I.T.U.T. (Innovative, Scientific, Study of the Effort, the Idealism and the Transcendentalism of the Art and Creativity) an artistic group from Skopje. Since 2008, she is member of F.R.I.K. (Cultural Development Association Formation) in Skopje. She held 8 solo exhibitions in North Macedonia, Germany and New York. Lives and works in Skopje.
